بله، هر دو درسته! «اما تفاوتی هم دارن؟» بله، دارن! «نکنه تفاوتشون به American English و British English بر می‌گرده؟» بله، دقیقاً!
خب، حالا که اصل مطلب رو گفتیم، بریم سراغ جزییات:
at the weekend (BrE)
on the weekend (AmE)
دقت کنین که این the توی این عبارات جزئی از عبارته و نمیشه حذف بشه، ولی از طرفی، می‌تونیم the رو حذف کنیم به شرطی که به weekend یه s جمع بدیم:
at weekends (BrE)
on weekends (AmE)
در ضمن، over و during هم زیاد با weekend استفاده می‌شن:
over/during the weekend
نکتۀ آخر هم این که، بسته به جمله، همۀ عبارات بالا می‌تونن به گذشته، حال و آینده برگردن. بریم چندتا مثال با هم بخونیم:
- I worked at the weekend. (= last weekend)
- I’m going to work at the weekend. (= next weekend)
- I don’t work at the weekend. (= weekends in general)
- We used to get together on weekends. (= weekends in the past)
- My sister prefers to stay home on weekends. (= weekends in general)
- I plan to exercise more on weekends. (= weekends in the future)
- What did you do over the weekend? (= during the last weekend)
